Open rowing sessions are the ideal way to try your hand at rowing a pilot gig with other novice and first time rowers. The sessions are short and have straightforward instruction to get you started. You will need to sign a disclaimer at your first row.

 Open Rowing times:
Saturday 10:30 am to 12.30pm (all year)
Tuesday 6:00 pm till dusk (summer only)

You can row three times before you need to join the club. Come prepared with suitable clothing - several layers to take off as needed, some cycling-type gloves if you are worried about blisters and a hat if it is cold; if the weather is warm bring something to drink.

Rowing is not just about being in the boat on the water - it is also about getting the gigs ready before and after, and so be prepared to get your feet wet if a gig needs to launched or recovered on the beach.

Social rowing sessions can be arranged throughout the year to nearby beaches for a picnic, or just for the pleasure of a good row - see the video pages for some examples, or click on the video below.
